The philosophy behind our model

William Butler Yeats once said, “But, I being poor, have only my dreams.” The founders, like Yeats, had dreams too.

At Waterberg Academy , our philosophy is rooted in the belief that education should prepare students for the ever-changing world that they will inherit. We are inspired by the words of William Butler Yeats, who said, “But, I, have only my dreams.” Just like Yeats, our founders had dreams too – dreams of creating a school that would nurture and empower students to chase their own dreams.

See Waterberg Academy, not just as a physical building, but as a vessel for tomorrow’s possibilities. With this understanding comes a great responsibility, one that our passionate staff embraces with distinction. We recognize that in today’s world, change is not only inevitable but necessary. What may have been considered good practice a few years ago may no longer to provide a quality education for today’s children.

We fully acknowledge the need for transformation in education. As the planet evolves and faces global challenges, so too must our approach be to education. Like any living organism, education must adapt or risk becoming obsolete. This is why we prioritize keeping our curriculum and teaching methods at the cutting edge, ensuring our students are equipped with the skills and knowledge needed to thrive in a rapidly changing world, we believe that change should not be feared but embraced, students must be schooled in adjusting to this ever-evolving world. It is for them to acquire the necessary skills and techniques required to seize the opportunities that change brings. We strive to provide our students with an excellent academic background, empowering them to be proactive thinkers who can enable change rather than simply reacting to it.

While we are globally focused and understand the importance of globalization, we also believe that our students should remain connected to their South African identity. We aim to cultivate well-rounded individuals who can think critically and globally, whilst also appreciating and contributing to their local community.

At Waterberg Academy, we are determined to ensure that our children are not just part of a community, but also part of a global village. We prepare them to be active participants in this global village, equipped with the skills, mindset, and understanding necessary to navigate its complexities. We base our values on Christian ethics.

Join us on this journey of empowering our students to become thinkers, leaders, and change-makers. Together, let’s embrace the challenges and opportunities of our ever-changing world whilst staying rooted in our South African identity
