UP COMING EVEMTS
11 February 2022 – 14 February 2022 – Mid-term break
9 April 2022 – Waterberg Carnival
Dear Waterberg Family
As I write, the first leave out for this year is about to take place both pupils and staff have been extremely busy over the past five weeks– I am sure everyone is looking forward to the “ long weekend.” The memories from these weeks are ones of fondness and pride. Waterberg Academy has such an abundance of talents and charisma. The start of this year has been a superb one filled with excitement, new frontiers, hard work and commitment.

The success is there to motivate us, not keep us stagnant. Keep following our passion. Waterberg Academy is not a school which lives a mediocre life. This school can bring into this world something unique and leave an indelible impression that we gave it our all and made a difference. As we reflect back upon the first five weeks and prepare ourselves for the second half, let us throw ourselves into our passion and make sure it keeps driving us to new goals and greater achievement. At Waterberg Academy, every day should be another opportunity for us to live out our passion and find new and exciting ways to make our mark in education.
I would like to thank all our teachers, pupils, and parents for the success of term 1. We do not only view our school as an aspiring business, but also as a humanistic institution dedicated unselfishly to the well-being of its members. The school has had a most productive term and there is little reason to doubt that term 2 will be the same.
New timetable for Grade 4 – 12
Due to numerous Fridays that we have missed and the different long weekends coming, we have decided to change our timetable. This change will allow us more academic time and ensure that we do not miss anymore academic days.
The timetable will now consist of a six (6) day cycle. This means that once the cycle ends, we start again with day 1. If we happen to miss a day the missed day moves up by one to the next academic day. I know it sounds a bit confusing, but we will all get used to it very quickly.
The benefits are that we now increase our contact time with the learners ( from 40 mins to 50 mins per lesson). There will also be a slight change in our times. School still starts at 07H30 and will end at 14H30. Friday’s school will end at 13H50. We believe that this switch will improve our academic standards and focus.
Thank you
I would like to use this opportunity to thank all pupils, staff and parents for the amazing support that we received for the Inter House Gala, Athletics, Sun Set Braai and Guppy Concert. It was wonderful to experience all the activities again and to see our pupils taking part and enjoying the outdoors and the activities. May we continue to grow and go from strength to strength.
