Dear Waterberg Family
Be positive and enjoy life. Some things just aren’t worth getting upset over. Keep everything in perspective and focus on the good in your life
I always admire and respect parents who are wonderful and wise role models to their children. Whenever their children come to them with a problem or if something has gone wrong, they have a magical way of showing their children that it’s never as bad as it seems. They will respond with “well, these things happen, no need to get upset; we will work through it.” I cannot tell you how comforting those words will be to a child.
One of the main reasons I respect these parents so much is because of the way in which they view the world – with tolerance, understanding, and acceptance of all the world has to offer, good and bad. They are such positive people, even in the midst of adversity, and my aim is to adopt that quality myself, and to pass it along to learners.
Our first theme for 2021 is “be positive and enjoy life”. Under our current circumstances and the pressure that we are all under, we cannot allow things to bother us to the point that they make us sick. We have to realise there are some things we can’t change, and there are times when there are no easy solutions. It is best to deal with those situations the best we can, take the pressure off ourselves, and move on.
Be positive. Stay happy and don’t let the negativity of the world get you down
It is with anticipation and excitement that we welcome you to the beginning of the 2021 academic year. Waterberg Academy is a different place in 2021 as the whole world faces a new and exciting change in the way that we do things. Waterberg Academy will need to adapt to the new world which is filled with the wearing of masks, social distancing, and strict safety protocols.
I also make special mention of our new families joining Waterberg Academy in 2021 – may you experience a warm and comfortable Waterberg welcome.
The learners have returned from an enjoyable holiday and a week of online learning. All our staff members across the school have been busy and productive, creating readiness to inspire excellence and to ensure that we start the year off on a positive note.
I would like to welcome the following staff to Waterberg Academy:
• Mrs Elsabe Stegmann – Primary School Maths
• Mr Mpofu Ndangariro – High School Physical Science and Technology
• Mrs Lanche Evans who joins the High School English department
• Mrs Gerrida Rorich – Grade 12 English
• Mrs Ansie Versveldt – Boarding School supervisor
• Mr Hannes Versveldt – Maintenance
• Mr Eldrich Huygen – Youth pastor
• Mr Johnathan Joseph – Student Trainee
• Miss Ann-Jenica van Coller – Student Trainee
The start of the year has been characterized by a lovely sense of comradeship and a willingness to work together for the best interest of our school. We can be sure that Waterberg Academy has some talented individuals who have committed themselves to the Academy. We as a staff have jointly decided that we will not accept mediocrity in terms of our service, lessons, teaching, coaching and from our learners. 2021 is our year, the year in which we aim to take this school to a place which no other school has gone.
Our first aim is to ensure that we produce the best academic results seen in this community. From Preschool to Matric, we will focus intensely on our academic standards and at the end of 2021 look back at our matric results with a sense of achievement knowing that these are the best results that this school has ever achieved.
