NEWS LETTER 24 May 2019

Boarder Outing

The boarders went to the headmaster’s property on Saturday to cut and prepare logs to make benches for their newly constructed braai pit. On the property are numerous gum trees which are being removed, the perfect source of hardwood logs.

Three logs were cut and trimmed into 2m lengths and a slice removed down the length. Then 600mm cross pieces for legs were cut and notched. De-barking and sealing will be done at School.

Many hands make light work. The baboons had slept in the surrounding trees the night before, accounting for Alyssa’s makeshift face mask.

Masedi took charge of ensuring the cutting chain was sufficiently well oiled throughout the laborious operation. Cutting with the Alaskan chainsaw mill was done by the Headmaster and the Bus Driver, Hendrik. The boarders helped with steadying the ladder, digging holes under logs and doing the heavy lifting.
